Columbus
Sophisticated Living magazine has an exciting business opportunity for a well-connected tastemaker in the Columbus area. We are looking for a dynamic leader to take over the franchise, which began publishing in 2014.

Highlights from the Holiday Issue
Set in a peaceful wooded area that backs up to a tributary of Sycamore Creek, the Jones Studio’s aptly named “Woodland Modern”property seamlessly blends interior design with outdoor beauty through oversized windows, indigenous wood, and spacious porches and patios.
“The beautiful natural setting of the home was such a key factor, as were the existing historical elements,”said designer Courtney Jones."

Timeless Style
It is only fitting that the Grande Dame of women’s fashion in Columbus would have the house to match: Connie Leal Ballenger lives with her husband, Mike, in a timeless property highlighting her own eye for style and her impeccable taste, much like the clothing she sells in her upscale, high-fashion boutique, Leal, in Upper Arlington.

From the Editor-In-Chief
I have a Google document with every Sophisticated Living editor’s letter I have written since we launched in Columbus nearly ten years ago. At over 100 pages, it is a diary of sorts that tracks not only changes in life and work and kids, but changes in me.Those early letters read a bit guarded to 2023 Amelia. Written to gain reader engagement and explain who and what Sophisticated Living Columbus would be, they now seem like nervously written and likely conspicuous sales pitches intended to convince you (and me) that I was fit to lead a magazine with the word sophisticatedin the title. With each passing year, these letters have become more and more vulnerable -an honest representation of the personal and professional challenges and successes faced by an average Appalachian-turned-midwesterner just trying to navigate mid-life. It is hard to be vulnerable and honest -particularly when you are putting words down into print that will be read by thousands of readers, many of whom you have never even met. But sometimes the hardest place to be vulnerable and honest is with myself. As they say — denial isn’t just a river in Egypt.

Leadership
Amelia Jeffers, Editor-In-Chief: “I've come to believe that the single greatest tool we will ever be given is the ability to tell a story. My story, your story, their story...the back story, the true story, the whole story. Storytelling and story listening is the key to living life authentically and with connection. That's not to say that we need to know everything about everyone – but I strive to listen carefully for everything someone wants me to know.”
